Mount Juliet History and Fun Facts

Mount Juliet is a city located in the western portion of Wilson County, TN.  It is a suburb of Nashville and is approximately 17 miles east of downtown.  In 2008 the census revealed a population of 25,234, surpassing the population of the county seat, Lebanon, by 422.  Mount Juliet is also known as the city between two lakes, located between Percy Priest Lake and Old Hickory Lake.

Mount Juliet was formed in 1835 and became incorporated as a city in 1972.  It is most widely believed that Mt. Juliet was named for a castle in County Kilkenny, Ireland.

Lebanon History and Fun Facts

Lebanon is the county seat of Wilson County.  Amoung Middle Tennesseans, Lebanon is pronounced "LEB-uh-nun", as opposed to the Middle Eastern nation, "LEB-uh-non".

The following movies were filmed in Lebanon:  All The Kind Strangers (1974), Charlie's War (2003), Happiness Is...(1975), and Perry's Wait (2007).

Wilson County is called home to several celebrities including, but not limited to:  Reba McEntire, Charlie Daniels, Gretchen Wilson & Ricky Van Shelton.
